Some homeowners may not have updated their insurance cover to take account of the reduction in building costs. However, the average rebuilding costs for three-bedroom semi-detached house declined by 10% between March 2010 and March 2011.*

A guide to house rebuilding costs which has been produced by the Society of Chartered Surveyors contains rebuilding costs for the main house types, including terraced and detached houses in five major urban areas: Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.
